The travel
After a long trip Brussels-Milan-Miami, rental car drive to Weston, we arrived at about 9pm in our apartment. But when we finally opened the door of the apartment we directly forgot about the trip. The two-bedroom apartment we had in the Flamingo 2 building was perfect.
Doing some shopping in the nearby supermarket (opening times 7am till 11pm, we have a lot to learn in Europe!)
The resort
Vacation Village at Bonaventure is about 25 miles west of Fort Lauderdale. The resort consists of three pairs of identical blocks (Flamingo, Sandpiper, Heron). They all have there own swimming pools. We stayed in the Flamingo 2 building. The buildings, swimming pools, apartments are very well maintained. Simply nothing negative, we even had our own Jacuzzi. This is Gold Crown!!
The apartment
We had a two-bedroom apartment—i.e., two separate, fully equipped apartments (A and B) with a connecting door. The apartment, with a balcony and Jacuzzi, is much bigger than the other. This is big enough for two families of in total six people, but we were only with the four of us. In total; four TVs, two kitchens, two bathrooms, a separate Jacuzzi, a balcony, two living rooms. Space enough! And...very good beds.
The swimming pools
The Flamingo buildings have it’s own swimming pool, but it’s also possible to use the swimming pools of the other buildings or even the huge swimming pool of the close by Vacation Village at Weston. In total: six swimming pools, all heated, and with enough sunbeds. No complaints at all.
The kids
They organise different things for the kids every day and there are also several children's pools.
The area
Weston is half an hour drive to the everglades. Downtown Fort Lauderdale is half an hour. South Beach Miami is an hours drive.
The very big Sawgrass Mills Outlet Shopping is 15 minutes by car.
You never miss that this resort is not a beach front resort. It’s much more quiet and the beaches are easy to reach.
Southeast Florida
We have never been in Florida before, but we will be back. Nice weather, beautiful beaches, Miami/Fort Lauderdale/Boca Raton/The Keys within easy reach. All you need is there. Now I understand why all people want to live here.

Best Way To Get Around:
To fully enjoy the area you should rent a car. Compared to Europe the roads are big and the people don't drive as aggressive.
