Good food, lots of sunshine, and gorgeous white sandy beaches, Destin has it all. Whether you want to laze on the beach, go parasailing, shopping, Destin has everything your heart desires. Be sure to check out some of the local shops like Banana Barts and Sockeyes. They're a bit pricey, but the atmosphere is fun.

Quick Tips:

If you have access to a boat, Crab Island is the place to go. Anchor on the sandbar and enjoy swimming and snorkeling. Rumor has it that the occassional dolphin joins in as well. For swimming, swim by the Destin bridge, the current is not so bad, and neither are the waves.

Best Way To Get Around:

Driving is the best way to get around. However, there is a water taxi in the harbor. Taking the water taxi is a nice way to see scenery in the harbor unaccessible by car.

Whale's TailBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

I enjoyed the Whale's Tail because of their excellent food and location. I tried the sampler for a little bit of everything and was very satisfied. The view of the ocean is outstanding. The Whale's Tail is very casual so you can go from the beach to the restaurant.

Fudpucker's Beachside Bar & GrillBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Fudpucker's"

Fud's was a very unique dining experience. The menu is a newsletter you can take home as a souvenier. As you wait for your meal, you can sign your name and the date you visited on the table, wall, ceiling, or anywhere else you want to be immortalized--at least until someone else writes over it. The food is typical American fare, hamburgers and fries, etc. You can also order seafood if that's what you're hungry for.

Ciao BellaBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

An Italian pizzeria, Ciao Bella is for the gourmet pizza lover. Ciao Bella provides customers with a strolling accordion player to serenade them while they wait for a specialty pizza or one created themselves. The highlight of my meal was not the pizza, but the salad. The pizza was good, but the salad was exquisite.

Silver Sands is a must for the bargain shopper. With more than 100 name brand stores such as Anne Klein, OshKosh, and Jones New York, this center has a little bit of everything...for less.

HarborwalkBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

At the foot of the Destin bridge lies Harborwalk. The Harborwalk has a little bit of everything from shopping, dining, and boat rentals. You can buy a frozen drink at Fat Tuesday's and walk along the harbor and browse through the shops. At the end of Harborwalk is the boat charters. You can charter a boat for a snorkel tour or a dolphin cruise. Or, you can just hang out and observe the day's catch from the fishing boats. It was from watching these boats that I saw my first shark.
