Convict Lake sits serenely above Long Valley, hidden from view by the awesome Sierra Nevada's. Its location is given away by only one solitary street sign on U.S.395. If heading north on U.S.395, turn left and a scant two miles of good road will bring the visitor to Convict Lake.
The first thing any visitor notices, is how well hidden this gem of a lake is, and yet it is easily accessible year round. The fishing is excellent here and rental skifs are available. Campsites are also there to be rented and a small store is neatly packaged in. The whole area is called The Convict Lake Resort.
Quick Tips:
Bring warm gear if you intend to dry camp up here.
The elevation of Convict Lake is 7,580 feet, and even in summer, it can get a little cold at night.
Try the restaurant there, a little pricey but very good. I personally recommend the Beef Wellington.
Best Way To Get Around:
