Youth Hostel Los Amigos, in Flores, Peten in Guatemala near Tikal.In Flores, on Lake Itza, you can stay at a beautiful hostel run by two brothers and their family-like Guatemalan staff. The hostel is about 70 Quetzales a night for two humongous beds in a giant room and in the courtyard, there are hammocks everywhere and good music playing all day long. Once night falls, they have a bonfire and groovy lighting in the common areas and makes for a good place to drink and swap stories with fellow travellers. They also have a restaurant there that serves giant portions of food away from the usual Guatemalan cuisine. Hotel Los Amigos definitely made my Guatemalan experience that much better and despite the humidity, the people and accommodations are great. Best place in Flores by far.
