An April 2006 trip to Adelaide by nancaras

Quote: As part of our 6 weeks in Australia, we spent a week around Adelaide and Kangaroo Island. Adelaide is a great city for walking, and Kangaroo Island lived up to its billing as a top Australian destination for wildlife viewing.
Hotel Strathmore is an old style two story Australian hotel on Adelaide's busy, modern (and mostly high rise!) Terrace Avenue. Rooms were spacious, with all the modern conveniences—air-conditioning, TV, phone, and refrigerator. All rooms are also en-suite. The decor was pleasant, although fairly generic. A basic breakfast is also included in the room rate—the hotel stocks the room with cereal, milk, bread (there's a toaster), jam, butter, and instant tea and coffee every day so you can have a private meal in your room every morning! The Mercure Grosvenor offers two types of rooms, Standard and Economy. This review and rate apply to the Economy room.The Mercure Grosvenor is a business class hotel located right across the street from the Adelaide convention center and casino complex. The lobby has marble, plants, bellhops—everything you would expect from a business hotel located in the city. The economy rooms pack all the conveniences of a motel room into a very tight space—the double bed is shoved into a corner, the TV sits facing it on a shelf over the closet, and a small desk is squeezed in between the bed and closet.
