Good Beds, Horrible Reception!
This hostel was very pretty and clean but the staff was horrible. The key system is confusing and doesn't work half the time, and when you ask for help from the staff they are very rude.The patio are was great to meet other travelers, and there is a dingy bar with lots of smoke. Very SMALL breakfast was included in the price, around €16 when I was there. Laundry €2.50 to wash €2.50 to dry but getting your stuff in can be hard because it is constantly being used and there is only one of each.

A great place to stay and meet people. This hostel has good beds in great rooms, also a common area with a pool table and a kitchen. Free Internet and a small breakfast included in the price, around €16 per night. The staff is very helpful! Showers are clean, hot and have water pressure. It is a short walk from Sol Plaza and Plaza Mayor.

Puerta del Sol

Every night, starting around 9pm or 10pm, there are live bands playing in the plaza. This is a great place to meet people for night time activity, or just to people-watch and enjoy seeing the people of Madrid start to come out for the night. Puerta Del Sol is central to lots of restaurants, tapas bars, and clubs.

This place is AMAZING, if you like contemporary art, surrealism, or modern art, then this is your place. If you are sick of looking at paintings of Jesus and the mother Mary, this is your place. Spend an hour wondering through the bottom floor of temporary installments, then move on to floor 2 and 4 to see the masters of surrealism. Save extra time fro the Bali and Picasso rooms, they are mind blowing!

An amazing collection of 20th century art for a good price €3 or €1.5 with ISIC card.

Big city Madrid

Madrid is a big city that is hard to navigate. There is lots to see and even more to experience, but beware of pickpockets and rude sales person. For a city with so much tourism, the people are not very friendly to outsiders, ordering when you don´t speak great Spanish can be hard and waiters get annoyed. Bars are very smoky and men are very forward. I had a good time but never felt at home.
