Among the greatest events would be to still see a few streetcars running during the weekend in Portugal Park. Well worth visiting the coffee museum and its several shopping centers.

Quick Tips:

A nice park to visit is Parque do Taquaral and relax during a stay at the Hotel Fazenda and Golf Solar das Andorinhas for some real country cooking and splendid food.

Hotel Fazenda M1Best of IgoUgo

Hotel | "Hotel Fazenda& Golf Solar das Andorinhas"

This colonial hotel establishment is like a place back in time. The facilities are enormous with a mini planterium, old style country cooking and homemade sweets for dessert. Rooms are pleasant and worth the visit for relaxation. On Saturdays, they serve Feijoada, which is a traditional Brazilian cuisine. On Sundays, they offer "Leitoa", which is pig. You must also try their "pururucu",which is made from pig and resembles pig rinds. They are very good eaten while drinking a beer.

To get there, you must depart Sao Paulo city heading on Via Anhanquera or Via dos Bandeirantes till arriving at V.D. Pedro. It is about four miles off Pedro. It takes about an hours drive from Sao Paulo. It is located ten miles from the center of Campinas. Great place to enjoy your vacation.

Streetcar in Portugal Park
Trolley lines still run in this Brazilian city due to some local individuals. The trolleys are very terrrific to view on Saturdays and Sundays, as they are more touristy in nature than actual usage for everyday life. They are located running around Taquaral Lake in Portugal Park. The original streetcars are from the turn of the last century and were manufactured in Philadelphia, Pa. USA. It is nice to see alittle of history in our age in time. Hope you enjoy your weekend there.

The aquatic and natural history museum located in Bosque dos Jequitibas area is a great visit for adults and children. The exhibits of flora and fauna are great. Admission is one real (US fifty cents), and have tour guides present though tours are in Portuguese. Even so, the exhibits are well worth not knowing portuguese. From marine life to mammal. Tours are more affiliated with discussions of biology. You may call at (019)251-9849
