I went to Curacao for a friend's wedding. He was engaged to a local girl, so the trip was not touristy at all. We stayed at a bungalow hotel out of the main city and got a chance to experience more of the local culture. Beaches were nice, but scuba diving was a little disappointing.
Quick Tips: The island is a desert island rather than tropical. There are more cacti than palm trees, so it is not your typical Caribbean destination. Tourism is not as easy as on other islands, but if you want to avoid the over-travelled destinations, this may be a good choice.
Best Way To Get Around: Rent a car, get a map. It's not difficult to navigate.
