Quote: My weeklong trip to Curacao for Danny's wedding.

I went to Curacao for a friend's wedding. He was engaged to a local girl, so the trip was not touristy at all. We stayed at a bungalow hotel out of the main city and got a chance to experience more of the local culture. Beaches were nice, but scuba diving was a little disappointing.

Quick Tips:

The island is a desert island rather than tropical. There are more cacti than palm trees, so it is not your typical Caribbean destination. Tourism is not as easy as on other islands, but if you want to avoid the over-travelled destinations, this may be a good choice.

Best Way To Get Around:

Rent a car, get a map. It's not difficult to navigate.

Freestanding bungalows, very private, own entrance with large terrace. Furnished open kitchen. Swimming pool and outdoor Jacuzzi. It takes 5-7 driving minutes to the beaches. Friendly management.

Local dive shack, very hospitable, terrific dive masters and friendly staff. They have dive school and snorkeling for beginners. All dives are shore dives, no boat diving.

Beach Time

Spent most of the time at the beach! Scuba diving was disappointing because recent storms had destroyed a lot of coral. The diving is all shore diving as well—no boat diving. We went to a beach frequented by locals, so the environment was cool and relaxed.
