Needlepoint Capital of Sao Paulo State

As our family have traveled extensively throughout cities in Brazil, this city was our choice for most of our hand-made needlepoints and other objects throughout our home. It is very good to see crafts people selling their works in the streets. My favorite store is Gugu Bordados on Rua Jose Custodio, 1016 where many of the nicest items may be found. Also a local hotspot would be Caipirodromo of Ibitinga. They specialize in providing live bands with the theme of Brazilian Country music. Worth checking out the rivers nearby like Jacare and Pepira, among the cleanest and best preserved in the State of Sao Paulo.

Its place of major historical importance was its presence along the path of the bandeirantes; centuries ago whom were mostly Portuguese conquisters whom sought out riches of gold and diamonds throughout the region.

Quick Tips:

Be prepared to locate some of the nicest handmade items of needlepoint, bedspreads. The prices are well worth the time in coming from Sao Paulo city. There is also a worthwhile visit to view the hydroelectric facility called UHE Ibitinga located on Tiete River.

Best Way To Get Around:

As usual, the best method of travel to Ibitinga would be by car. You could travel from public bus, but you are more at ease with a car.

The Ibiti Palace Hotel is situated in the commercial center of the city and in front of a beautiful city square called Praca Jorge Tibirica. Rooms are with color tv, air conditioning and frigo bar. They have a swimming pool for one''s leisure. I especially enjoyed their pool facilties.

This local "hotspot" is well-known in the entire region for its terrific live music presentations and a favorite opportunity to listen and participate in Brazilian country music.

It is always a well worth visit for its warm reception and fun. The younger generation finds this location the best location for "paquera" dating and socializing.

The admission cover charge is around 7 Real(roughly $3.50 US). There is free parking and alot of dancing going on. It is open to the public, with live bands and shows. Our family has always enjoyed this place. There is a bar there for all.

Grillu's baby is a nice place to visit and to view and buy machine made textiles for the home and the babies. Their products are very good quality and affordable. This city of Ibitinga is truly a needlepoint capital. It has many street fairs with its many exhibits. There are well over 1000 companies in the manufacture of these fine products of home furnishings. I enjoy the street fairs in the city because one gets a great opportunity to converse with the public. Don't be surprised that the goods sold are nicer than you would imagine. The bedsheets are very decorative choices.

Also while in town enjoy the agricultural views of coffee plants, peanuts, cotton, corn, rice, soyabean, feijao(brazilian black bean), sugarcane and citris plants. The terrific location among the nearby rivers and irrigation make this city well situated.
