Redding attracts one of the best family friendly classic car migrations in the country. It is called Cool April Nights and took place this year from April 2 to April 9, 2006. The town is inundated with classic cars, hot rods, customs, and muscle cars for this annual car event. It packs in every year and becomes near impossible to find a room to stay in. Unlike Reno, Reddings show does not have the alcohol and the fights that have scarred other car shows. I would recommend this show to all families that like classic cars.

Quick Tips:

To know more about the city in general, go to www.ci.redding.ca.us or go to www.visitredding.org

Best Way To Get Around:

Redding does have public transportation, but if you are going during Cool April Nights, I wouldn't suggest counting on it. If you have a custom or hot rod, take it. If not, go just to see the amazing cars and the atmosphere. The town really comes alive during that week.
La Quinta Beds
La Quintas are not a budget hotel unless you happen to get a great rate through a website like priceline. I did get a great rate of $50 a night! Great! I like the La Quinta here better than any other hotels in the area. It is always clean and they offer a continental breakfast in the morning. I really like the fact that they accept pets and it is usually very quiet. The La Quinta is tops in my book for accommodations in the Redding area! This one La Quinta has influenced me on most of my long distance trips. I rely on La Quintas to be clean and nice. So far, I have never been let down. Here is a thumbs up to the La Quinta parent company! For the price, this hotel leaves others in the dust.

Finished in 2004, the Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay is not to be missed! It was designed by Santiago Calatrava, the famous Spanish architect. It is gorgeous at around 8:30pm when the lights come on. It is made of a blueish-green glass with strips of granite in between. There is a huge obelisk at one end that acts as a sundial that projects the time on a tiled garden border. The river below is rated as one of the top fly fishing areas in the country. Best of all, dogs are allowed on the bridge. Just watch out for the temperature of the glass, it can burn dog paws during the summer.
