In my opinion, this is one of the best places for a family to dine. The reservations are taken up to 2 YEARS in advance, so I recommend booking dining reservations at the same time you are making your hotel reservations. The tip and entertainment is included in price of the meal. If you are traveling with children, I recommend the earlier show, but if it's just adults, the later show might be a good idea... the shows are exactly the same but easier on the kids if dinner is earlier in the night... especially because a Disney day can be a really long day.
