Texas has a lot of giddy-up! My family and I recently took a road trip to the grand ole state of Texas to visit my brother, who has lived in Ft. Worth for the last 18 years. I myself lived in the state throughout junior high and high school. I digress. If travelling to Fort Worth you MUST go to the Stockyards, located in the middle of the city. It houses a mechanical bull, a weekly rodeo, and the feel of old Texas. There is a daily cattle drive through the main street, which is always fun for the kids to see. This same area also houses The Maze from the Great Race '05. It is very cool to see that.
Ft. Worth also has the White Elephant Bar, which was used to shoot Walker, Texas Ranger.
When in Ft. Worth you should also catch the zoo. The Ft. Worth Zoo is rated fourth in the Top 10 Zoos in America. The layout is breathtaking, and one section of the zoo is all of the animals that are native to Texas, which is really cool to see. There is also a place that is a replica of old-time Texas that houses eateries. I think the best part of the zoo is the aviary that people can walk into and feed the birds, and a coral reef exhibit where people can go in and touch a stingray, sea urchin, and anemone.
Another great place to see is the Ft. Worth Museum of Science. It has a planetarium, and an Omnitheater. All three of which you can gain admission to with a ticket package of . Trust me in this, GET THE PACKAGE. It is well worth the money.
Quick Tips:
If you are going to the Zoo, Wednesday is half-price ticket day; from .50 to .50 for adults, and to for the children. Children 2 and under are free.
Best Way To Get Around:
The best way to get around is by car. Unfortunately Ft. Worth doesn't have any public transportation. At least, none that I saw.
