This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at during my vacations. It is located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, off of Rue Elgin. Everything falls within convenient walking distance from the hotel, like the City Hall, Parliament Hill, Chateau Lourier, War Memorial, shopping mall, US embassy, Rue Rideau and the Rideau Canal. The hotel was clean and cozy. We had a 1-bedroom suite that had a bedroom with a queen size bed, a living room and a kitchen. The living room was furnished with a sofa, a table, a color TV with basic cable channels, phone, a balcony, air-conditioning and a dining table set. The kitchen had all the appliances including stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, pots and pans...Read More

31 April 2006 we were driving south on I-87 to New York, almost wrapping up our trip to Canada. It was nice and sunny and almost 75°F. We had to stop at the US border at Champlain, New York and pass through the immigration that almost took an hour. We started driving down. The landscape in upstate New York is just fantastic. A traffic-free highway with lakes, hills, and pine trees on either side. The drive was fun and less stressful. As we were driving, we saw the traffic signs for Lake George and I remembered the tragic boat accident that happened on 2 October 2005 where 20 senior citizens died. We decided to stop by to have lunch there. As we entered the small town of Lake George, we felt...Read More

It was a long and boring 5-hour drive from Toronto to Ottawa. We were feeling tired and exhausted by the time we reached Ottawa at around 6pm, but once we reached there, I felt like I was home. Rue Elgin is like a street in Thamel, Kathmandu, with hotels, lodges, pubs, bars, and stores on both sides, and tourists walking everywhere. Ottawa is a clean and beautiful city located on the banks of the Ottawa, Rideau, and Gatineau Rivers. During our visit there, the winter snow had just melted under a recent warm spell although parts of the Ottawa River were still frozen. The scenic beauty was captivating and the spring air fresh and crisp. Downtown Ottawa, also known as hull, is the most co...Read More

Chaque Parle en Français à Montréal

For those who do not understand French at all, Chaque parle en Français à Montréal means "Every one speaks French in Montreal". And you bet every one do. Even when you go to Chinatown, where you expect people not to speak good English, they are very fluent in French. Can you believe that? We went to a pretty reasonable regular Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown for dinner, I was surprised to see these waiters explaining the food they serve flawlessly in French to the customers, and they are so good. It could be the waiters in that particular restaurant only, I don’t know.So yeah, Montréal was totally a new experience for us with almost everything in French. But you do not have to think twice to go to...Read More

Toronto was our first stop in Canada. Weather was pretty nice and sunny. While driving towards Toronto, the view of downtown was beautiful with gigantic CN tower right in front of you.The waterfront of Lake Ontario along Lakeshore enables one to get a wonderful view Toronto’s skyline. Though it was cold and chilly we didn't waste a minute to enjoy the beautiful sunset at the waterfront. A giant windmill at the shore, Sheldon lookout, Humber Bay Arch Bridge are other interesting things you find at the waterfront.CN Tower, the world’s tallest man-made structure on earth is right at the waterfront of the Lake Ontario. It costs 21.49 CAD to experience the view from the CN Tower. There are ...Read More
