Atlanta is a great place to party, as each neighborhood has its own unique charms. I love it!

Atlanta is also called Hotlanta by the locals, as it gets unbelievable hot and humid in Summer.
The best time to travel is Spring and Fall... nice and warm days with lots of sunshine.
I used to live in Atlanta and it was one of my favorite places to be.

There are many nice neighborhoods to check out:
For great bars and restaurants, I would suggest Virinia Highlands.

For more bars and a bit funkier with lots of second hand stores, check out Little Five Points...

Midtown has good clubs and restaurants. Especially around 10th Street and Peachtree Street.

Buckhead is the best known spot for nightlife... a few streets with lots of clubs next to each other... it's more the rowdy and party to get wasted crowd, in my opinion.

Quick Tips:

-> Check out the fountain at Centennial Olympic Park... there is a light and music show at certain times of the day

-> If it's Baseball season. Try to get tickets. The stadium has a great atmosphere.

-> The tour through the CNN center is really interesting and worth doing.

-> Take a tour through Fox Theater or go there for a play in the evening. Very beautiful building!

Best Way To Get Around:

MARTA is the name of the public transportation, but I would highly recommend taxi or even rent a car.

This is just a typical American city, without a car you cannot get anywhere.

Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel

If you want to spend a romantic weekend in the city, I definitely recommend the Westin Peachtree Plaza. It's a landmark building, and with 73 stories, it's the tallest hotel in the Western Hemisphere. All rooms have a spectacular view of the city. Ask for a room above the 45th floor, facing Midtown or Centennial Olympic Park, as it's gorgeous, especially at nighttime!

When you arrive, if you have never been to Atlanta, take the elevator up to the 72nd floor and stroll around the viewing deck, or enjoy a drink in the rotating bar.

You get a very cool first impression of the city! By the way, they used to have life jazz up there on weekend nights. That was the greatest! If it's still there, it's great to start the evening with.

Apache Cafe

Apache Cafe

This is the coolest place to go and have fun. Don't be afraid by the dark corner that it is located at. It is one of the best places Atlanta has to offer.

It is a very relaxed bar, with a DJ and often live music. Real hangout for artists, musicians, ...

There is always special things going on. I like especially Monday and Tuesday nights.

Monday nights- Art night, bring your own pencil, sketchbook or whatever other utensils you have and be creative... there is usually a male and a female model (not completely naked) that you can study. At the same time there is great music, and often an artist presenting his/her work in an area of the Cafe.

Tuesday nights- Open mic club... if you want to see real freestyle MC battles... everyone can participate... get your practice on and go on stage to be judged by the audience.

Cafe Intermezzo

Afternoon or evening, Intermezzo Cafe is definitely one of the prime spots for a date. It is very much in a European style. They have excellent cakes, some of them imported straight from Italy. The selection of wine, beer and spirits is amazing. They are also open late. I think until 4am (at least on weekends).

When I was living in Atlanta, this was my favorite late-night hangout to chat away with friends at the bar. Now, I'm not talking about loud partying and dancing... There is nice music, with dim lights and a great atmosphere; it's a place just to chill out with a nice glass of wine.

Oh, and I just remembered, try the hummus, a great snack to share.

Havana Club

Dance the night away to salsa and merengue. There is no charge to get in, but you need to be dressed nice, no trainers or jeans. It's a great place to hang out, with a good atmosphere. For cigar lovers, they have a big selection, and you can sit in a separate area and smoke the night away. This club is also located in the middle of Buckhead nightlife, so you always have the chance to move on to other places.
