Ruidoso, New Mexico

An August 2005 trip to Ruidoso by the_brakes@yahoo.com

Ruidoso, New Mexico is a great place to get away from the heat in the summer. It warms up during the day, but is cool at night.

Best Things Nearby:
Fort Stanton, established May 4, 1885, Lincoln National Forest for hiking, shopping in Cloudecroft, and Ruidoso, gambling at Inn of the Gods, horse racing, Lincoln County War, Indian Three Rivers Petroglyphs.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is newly remodeled, everything is very clean, and they have an indoor pool.

Resort Experience:
We had a 1 bedroom unit with a foldout couch in the living room. You pass through the full kitchen to go to the bedroom which had abundant closets and a bathroom with a tub adjoined. The resort has an indoor swimming pool, and they had a meeting the first morning to tell everyone about sites to visit and plan a trip everyone could go on together. Even though it was August, we never had to use the air-conditioner because of the high altitude. The condos were recently remodeled, and very nice. I would suggest only 2 adults for the 1 bedroom because of 1 bathroom, and 1 couple would have to use the foldout couch. It was roomy enough, though, for a couple kids.
