FRESH NEWS. IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY SEEN IT, WALT DISNEY WORLD IS OFFERING THEIR DINING PROGRAM FREE FROM MID-AUGUST THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2006.That's one snack, one walk-up meal, and one sit-down meal per person per day! They normally charge per person per day for that program, so it's real value. And it ADDS UP.Virtually every restaurant is included in the program, although some sit-down restaurants require two credits (Cinderella's Castle, Jike and California Grill, and a few others). But if you are going to put up with the August heat, MAKE YOUR RESERVATION BY PHONE RATHER THAN ONLINE. I couldn't find that meal deal online—it is apparently only available when you call in for your ...Read More

This was our sixth trip to Walt Disney World in the last 9 years. With five in our group (three adults and two teenagers), we usually stayed at the Polynesian, with one stop at the Contemporary. This time we tried TWO ADJACENT rooms at the Coronado Springs. We liked the theme, and had eaten dinner at Maya Grill one time in the past. The total room charge was substantially less than at the Poly, AND we had FOUR beds and TWO bathrooms. We missed the fine restaurants at the Poly ('Ohana and particularly Kona), and we missed the Monorail. But since the favorite parks for the adults were Epcot and Animal Kingdom, the bus wasn't too much of a compromise (Coronado Springs is actually VERY close to ...Read More

We used Magical Express on our recent trip to Walt Disney World. Our bags were about 10 hours late, but since we took care to PACK EVERYTHING WE NEEDED FOR THE FIRST DAY AND NIGHT IN OUR CARRY-ON BAGS, it was not a big issue. Certainly the free bus transportation is a value, and reasonable easy to use. The Magical Express assignment desk is on the ground floor of the airport, but be ready to wait in line to sign-in, and wait again for your bus. It's free, after all, and I guess you get what you pay for.On our return, we took the bus and schlepped our own bags (US Air does not currently participate in the RETURN baggage transportation), and that was VERY easy. Just check your bags at the re...Read More

We were at the Magic Kingdom at opening, ran up to Space Mountain to get a Fast Pass, RODE without a Fast Pass, and then went into Stitch's Great Escape (fun, but not as good as Alien Encounter). Then we used our Fast Pass on Space Mountain. Got pictures with Pluto, and generally felt good about the morning. Then my wife said "let's get some breakfast," so we wandered back over to the castle area, and then around back (on the Fantasyland side) to the entrance for Cinderella's Royal Table. It was just before 11am, and I asked at the check-in desk if there were possibly any walk-up tables available. The gal there said, check back at 11:15, "We might have something." We went into ...Read More

During May and early June, WDW runs Star Wars Weekends at Disney MGM Studios. During the week, there are special activities at the part, mostly near the Star Wars Ride. But on weekends, the CHARACTERS are there. You can go online to the Disney World site to determine who's going to be there and when (in terms of the actual ACTORS). But all weekend, you can find generic actors in the films' costumes, available for pictures.

GREAT, GREAT fun for this family of Star Wars Fans. And, for the record, Chewbacca is a BIG GUY!
