The best thing to do here is sightsee. There are about 7 monasteries that are open to the public for a small fee (about US.50 each). The paintings, the architecture, and the sculptures are some of the most intricate and beautiful I've ever seen.Quick Tips: The most important tip is that you are required to wear long pants (long skirt for women) and a long sleeve shirt in all of the monasteries. The accomodations were average. I stayed in a room that had 2 single beds. These were comfortable. The shower was hilarious, although normal by some Greek standards. There wasn''t air-conditioning, but the fan helped. It was a very homey place, with friendly people. The proprietor was getting married that weekend, so it was full of very happy and friendly people. I would recommend it due to the fact that you get the ''real experience'' by being there instead of some more touristy hotel. Breakfast was typical Greek/European, and the wouldn''t let me go out for the day without it! I would definitely stay here again.

The following pictures are of some of the monasteries. There aren't many places inside where you can take pictures, but here are a couple of examples of the incredible artistry that has survived since the 1200's. I've also included a picture of my favorite monastery and some of the views.
