I had gone to see the Kurdish New Year of Newroz. That day was wonderful. The streets were full of Kurdish people dancing, some in their traditional cloths. I visited the historical site of Old Dogubayazit. That was stunning, and I will never forget just standing and smelling the history in my nostrils. Thousands of years of history, carved caves in mountains, the historical palace of Ishak Pasha, which should be made into an world heritage site, the tomb of the famous Kurdish philosopher Ahemedi Xani, and another ancient mosque with sheep and shepherds wandering up the road... where in the world can one experience all this?
