Orlando Family Vacation

A February 2004 trip to Orlando by Scorpiosue1102

There is a lot of family fun in Orlando, but all we had was rain. At one point it was colder in Orlando than in Chicago, where I live. Still... lots of fun.

Well, if you have to pick a favorite place of course it will be Disney World. With a one year old it was hard to get to other places.

Quick Tips:

We stayed at a family home rental, which saved us a lot of money and was about 5 to 10 minutes from Disney World. The web address is http://www.flippersfunhouse.com/.

Best Way To Get Around:

We drove to Orlando, so needless to say we drove everywhere.
This restaurant is just fun. If you like Jimmy Buffet even a little bit, you'll love this place. There's a volcano in there and lots of Jimmy Buffet music.

I had the Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger, which was really tasty. I'm picky about my burgers and this was really good. My mother-in-law is very picky. She had the Fish Sandwich, and really enjoyed it.

Lots of fun and you'll enjoy it.

Ugh... where to start? This place was awful. I remember as a kid having decent food at Sizzler, not anymore. We went and were just going to have the salad bar. The lettuce was bad, the taco meat was cold, and the ice-cream was more like milk. Save your money. Yes, it's not that expensive, but I would have rather eaten at Subway.

Yum! We went there for breakfast. I had the peach pancakes, which were fabulous. There is no other pancake that I like to have now except theirs. Great for a hearty breakfast before you head out to see Mickey.

Attraction

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Downtown Disney. Needless to say they have some great Disney souvenir shops. We got most of our gifts for family there. Though $10 for hot chocolate is pretty steep. My favorite shop was Basin. Nothing like a shop with soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc.

The smell in there is just fantastic. The Team Mickey Sports shop is a good one too. Lots of Disney stuff and some regular sports stuff, too. Lastly, the setting is wonderful. Water, hotels, restaurants, etc., I really had a nice afternoon.
