Four Day Weekend Getaway

My main reason to go to Los Angeles was to go to the Price is Right... horrible experience, I don't even watch the Price is Right now because of it and I watched the show for 20 years (that I can remember). First, you get there early as hell, hours before the Price is Right audience call begins, and you receive a number only to wait another 1 1/2 hours to get another number. You then wait to see if you have a chance to even get in the audience (now 4 hours have passed), and right before (and this is crucial) you are interviewed. The interview is how they select you to be called, and 30 minutes later, you're in. It takes about 8 hours altogether, but like I said, I was a die hard fan.

Best Way To Get Around:

They best way to get around is definitely to rent a car. Now don't feel ashamed if you are driving around in a little cobalt without tinted windows while everyone else is driving a Mercedes, Escalade, Jaguar, or BMW. Just remember that is how those people think. Most of them, I found out from friends and family, that live in the area that everyone tries to keep up with the Jones and can't... all of it is just a front.

Now having a car is essential to getting around in LA because all the exciting things to do are far from each other. And there is a hell of a lot of traffic at all times of the day.

This was an okay hotel. There was plenty of food and it was within walking distance. The Hermosa Beach Pier was about 2 minutes from the hotel. There you can eat, shop, go to a bar, and there was one night club on the strip. I did not attend but I did however see lots of people going so it must be okay (casual dress). The hotel rooms were fairly clean and there was a free breakfast buffet each morning, the only thing is that it start really early at 6:30am and only last until 9am. They could at least have extended it for another 45 minutes.

The people at the front desk were okay except for one person... she was a real whowho and could not give any suggestions about what to do in town because she hated everthing (well if you don't like doing things you shouldn't work at the front desk be a maid or something), she hated comedy, clubs, music, and going out. What a wierd-o! In my opinon, front-desk clerks should be friendly and have some idea about the city in which they live. For Pete's sake, you work at a HOTEL. Anyway, I forgot her name.

But other that that, I would highly recommend the hotel because of its cleanliness and location. It was great. They also had one computer for your assistance in locating things, with a printer—free of charge.

I attended the club on Sunday, which is called Chocolate Sunday's. (The club themes each night.) It was okay. They featured a couple funny comedians, some that were famous. But I personally like the first host, I forgot the young guys name but I do remember he was from Detroit. Then the second host Chris Spencer, who although famous is not so funny, kind of got on my nerves. He looks as if he has something stuck up his butt. He probably has a real attitude problem... the way some people act after they become famous.

But you have to pay $17 per person to enter then you must buy two drinks... now, it doesn't have to be alcoholic, but to force a person to buy two drinks after they cram you into this extremely small club is crazy. But I did have a good time, and would return.

You can't bring cameras or take pictures on studio property, but we did sneak one in at the beginning.

Every place you go on the bus tours, you can go on your own on, following your own schedule. Just check out their brochure and see where they take you, and follow that. Not that fascinating anyway, from what you see on TV I thought that I would see so much, but it was just like any other city. Some cities have at least one spot that is a tourist attraction, but not Los Angeles, just didn't see the hype. The Walk of Fame is okay, you see the stars on the ground, but what I hear is that everyone nowadays that gets a star, are not as special as they used to be. But you do get to see some of the stuff they talk about on TV. The Chinese Theater. All that stuff you can go to on your own without spending a ton of money. As far as Beverly Hills, I have seen bigger homes in the country, and at least they get some type of land to surround their property. All I can say is that Los Angeles is NO BIG DEAL!
