If you love being in a big city, but also want to be surrounded by luxury, The Biltmore has it!

My husband and I decided for our 10th wedding anniversary that we wanted to do a weekend get-away in our own city. The building is a historic landmark, where presidents (JFK for one), celebrities, kings, and politicians have visited. You are surrounded by classic elegance the moment you drive-up to the valet parking. It feels as though you've stepped out of the city and into another time. The staff was all extremely cordial and helpful, and since the hotel is so old there is character everywhere. It is close to all of the what downtown LA has to offer.

Our room: When opening our door we were pleasantly surprised to see the size of it! There was a large armourer, a king bed with dramatic drapes overhead in a deep navy, and a beautiful vintage style comforter. A large desk and chair, a sitting chair, two large nightstands, and there were several different lighting options.

The bathroom: Very clean and average size; (remember, this building is old so it won't be like the newer luxury hotels in Vegas etc.) there was plenty of room for two at the sink, and they give you Aveda soaps, not a big deal, but a nice touch.

Restaurant/Bar: The Galley Bar and Cognac Room was really nice after a long night at the Opera, we stopped in for a great Bloody Mary more than once! The sushi restaurant was equally as good. Sit at the sushi bar if you don't want a full course meal, and the chefs are helpful and fun to talk to.

Amenities: There is a pool, gym, spa, tea room, and more. Check-out their site for more details at www.millenniumhotels.com and click on Los Angeles.

I listed this as high end because some rooms definitely are, but you can get them more reasonably. We paid around$120 per night after mentioning our AAA card. I will go back to the Biltmore time and time again, it's beautiful.
