If you can deal without all of the luxuries of the high-end resorts, then this is a nice place. The rooms are a good size. Some have lake views, and all of the rooms have fireplaces and balconies/patios. And believe me, it was nice to have a fireplace in June because it was snowing! They have a nice breakfast in the morning.
My only complaint are that the bathroom was cold and needed some upgrades, and the elevator was stinky. But other than that, it was good.

We've been to a few of the buffets that are available in the South Lake Tahoe area, and this one is the best. The food is fresh and the views (from the 18th floor) are awesome. If you want dinner, avoid going between 5 and 7pm, when the line is long.

MS Dixie II Sunset Dinner Dance Cruise

We took a wonderful, sunset dinner cruise aboard this steamboat operated by Lake Tahoe Cruises. It was snowing that day, but we were cozy inside the boat. There was a nice band playing, and a cash bar was available. The dinner was satisfying, and we enjoyed the company of our table companions as we cruised along the lake. Most of the couples were middle-aged, and we (late 20's) were the youngest onboard, but it's still a wonderful, romantic way to spend an evening.

One-dollar drinks on Monday nights! It's really crowded (during ski season) but it's the place to be. The music is loud and good. More importantly, the drinks aren't watered down.
