Aruba Highlights

Overview

Aruba is a great vacation destination for couples or families. The US now has new regulations on needing a passport as of 2006. The beaches are wonderful, the local culture is great, and the island is safe. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun place to go.

Quick Tips:

Your first time to the island we would recommend going to an all-inclusive resort. The food on the island is a bit expensive, and in the all-inclusive you still get a taste of the island cuisine. If you are not at an all-inclusive, we recommend the "Visit Aruba" card for discounts at restaurants and attractions.

Best Way To Get Around:

We never rent a car, they drive crazy! We take a taxi from the airport, then use the bus to go downtown. We usually walk on the beach to get to most of our destinations.
Best Things Nearby:
The Phoenix is close to all the high-rise hotels. Many things are within walking distance, including casinos, restaurants, and sports.

Best Things About the Resort:
The private beach is beautiful, and the Sunset Beach Bistro is a great restaurant.

Resort Experience:
The rooms are clean and spacious. The furniure is well kept, and replaced every few years. Housekeeping does a good job of keeping the mold and sand down. We also really love the balconies.

Amazonia is a must-do restaurant. The food is excellent, the service superb! This is our first meal on the island each year on our vacation. We learned quickly to go light at the salad bar so you have room to try all the great meats they have to offer. Once you have eaten your salad, you turn your marker to green, and the "carvers" begin to come. They bring everything from chicken wings to fillet mignon, lamb, pork sausage, anything you could want, all cooked on a skewer on an open flame. And don't forget to try the pineapple!

Carlos'n Charlies

Restaurant

A fun place to stop and get lunch. Be prepared to enjoy your wait staff, your food, and your experience. It is usually busy at lunch when the cruise ships are in dock.

Palm Beach

Activity

All of the beaches on Aruba are wonderful. Palm Beach is exceptionally good. The sand is a typical Caribbean white, the water is Caribbean blue, and warm. I would highly recommend any beach on the island.
