Quote: Snorkeling, hiking, dining out, dining in, a helicopter tour, and a luau, just having fun was our main goal for this 10-day anniversary trip to the beautiful Island of Hawaii. Being spontaneous paid off, we found special adventures at almost every turn.

Our favorite activity was snorkeling. We purchased a map with all local snorkel sights and would snorkel 1-2 a day. They just kept getting better. It is so easy to swim 10 feet off many beaches and be emerged in beautiful coral scenery. In one day we beached hopped and saw white coral beaches, black lava rock, black lava sand, thick brown sand beaches, each unique and beautiful. At one point three sea turtles were swimming with us. A drive north up the Kona coast allowed us to whale watch. We saw a pod of 3 playing just off shore. The best sand beach is also north of the Waikola area Kauanoa Beach (Mauna Kea Beach). The big island doesn't have as many sandy beaches but if you want to snorkel you ...Read More

We were staying in the older part of the resort. We were moved here since Paniola Greens overbooked. We were not disappointed. Our one bedroom condo was large and overlooked the golf course with lots of palm trees to look at. We didn't actually spend much time at the resort, but we definitely liked the 2 swimming pools and 3 hot tubs. We didn't get a chance to use the tennis court. Loved the tiki bar that overlooks the main pool and grounds. There is a nice walking path and fitness facility. The resort is gated with a friendly guard posted at the entrance who waves when you go through. This place would be great for family fun or just a romantic getaway.

Yummy seafood. We waited for a table out on the deck and timed it for the sunset. As the tide came in we felt like we were dining on the ocean. Our waiter was really helpful and they have a sign system for attracting your servers attention. The portions are large. A good selection of tropical drinks.

This Bar and Grill caught our attention in our travel guide because the name is the same as ours. It is noted as a hangout for locals and it wasn't as tourist packed as most of the other places we went to. I ordered the Quinn's burger platter. A artery clogging twist of the traditional hamburger with cream cheese and avocado as well as tomato, lettuce, onion, smothering the beef on the burger. It was unbelievably good and so huge I needed to cut it in half to pick it up. The french fries were spiced and crispy. Eating outside was fun in there palm tree sheltered cafe area. Definitely a place to go after a day at the beach if you don't want to get dressed up and just want to take it easy.
