Best Way To Get Around:

Des Jeunes (MIJE) - Le Fauconnier

Hotel | "mije hotel des jeunes"

Quote:
This is one of the best cheap stays in paris. There are in fact three centers, all of them in the historic marais. All are within walking distance. If you don't have a reservation, show up and wait, and they will try to place you in one of the three centers. Very central to everything in paris, the breakfast is good, and the only drawback is the lockout around 12:30 midnight.

Aux Deux Canards

Restaurant

Quote:
A very unique restaurant, here they specialize in foods made with oranges, and the make orange wine, a specialty normally found only in the south... the restaurant is so named because of the two underground newspapers (canards) which were published there during WWII.

Musée Maillol

Attraction | "Musee Maillot"

Quote:
Small, intimate museum containing the sculpture of Aristide Maillot, whose elegant statues can be seen throughout Paris. Within the museum, though, are many of his smaller works which can help give the visitor a greater understanding of his larger pieces. The museum also features temporary painting exhibitions. The display galleries are wonderful spaces which work well particularly with larger canvasses. This is a very good museum to visit and then re-visit if you have the time - a lot to see but very manageable. Excellent cafe with beautiful vaulted ceilings.

Cultural Institutes

Attraction

Quote:
one of the most appealing things about paris is the constant presence of other nationalities. paris relies very heavily on imported culture, although they don't like to admit it. the cultural centers offer presentations and exhibitions from countries throughout europe. some of my favorites include the swedish and dutch institutes. admission is free unless there is a special event. often these centers offer language courses as well. they have galleries and lectures and are usually in a gorgeous building. you can find these centers throughout the city- they are indicated on the brown tourist attraction sights.

Cultural Institutes
Throughout Paris
Paris, France

Quote:
A small bookstore, yes, with a big history. This is where innumerable famous writers made their roost in Paris. You can still sit there in an air of antique dinginess that can only inspire a good selection of english books, obviously. They have poetry readings every week and several lectures. Good place to meet like-minded people. Right in the shadow of Notre Dame.
