Gastown, the oldest area of downtown, is ok, but quite a few of the shops sell t-shirts and other items geared toward tourists. Vancouver has the second largest population of Chinese immigrants in North America, thus Chinatown is worth a look with shops selling various wares and foods. The highlight of my visit was Stanley Park, which is a penninsula complete with bike/jogging path and other cool things to see. Nightlife has a lot to offer with various bars, pubs, clubs within walking distance of downtown.Quick Tips: Ok, kids. The guidebooks warn you about the riff raff between Gastown and Chinatown. Vancouver's Stanley Park is on a penninsula located just west of downtown and a million miles from the hustle and bustle of the city. A writer in RunnersWorld described this as one of the most scenic courses in North America. I heartily agree. The course follows the seawall and gives you spectacular scenery throughtout.
