This was a 4 day/3 night trip, where we flew into Denver on a Thursday morning, and skied that afternoon in Vail. We flew back out on a Sunday evening. We rented a car in Denver for the 2 hour trip to Vail, and stayed at the The Lodge at Vail which is located at the base of the mountain in Vail Village. Quick Tips: Pack for real cold and warm conditions. We reviewed the 5 day weather forecast the night before we left, and did not pack our coldest weather gear because of the forecast. This is a beautiful ski in and ski out resort hotel, located in the heart of Vail Village. It reminded us of a quaint Bavarian hotel, but with all the amenities you come accustomed to in highend resorts. The rooms were very comfortable and well appointed, our bathroom was a bit small but very functional. The staff was attentive, and they paid specific attention to all the small details. Once you understand the lay out and all the amenities of the hotel, you will not need a car, you can walk to every thing from fine dining to après ski partying.
