We rented a car in Denver for the 2 hour trip to Vail, and stayed at the The Lodge at Vail which is located at the base of the mountain in Vail Village. Quick Tips: Pack for real cold and warm conditions. We reviewed the 5 day weather forecast the night before we left, and did not pack our coldest weather gear because of the forecast. This is a beautiful ski in and ski out resort hotel, located in the heart of Vail Village. It reminded us of a quaint Bavarian hotel, but with all the amenities you come accustomed to in highend resorts. The rooms were very comfortable and well appointed, our bathroom was a bit small but very functional. The staff was attentive, and they paid specific attention to all the small details.
