Best Things Nearby:Beaches, wildlife.Best Things About the Resort:It is right on the ocean and every unit has 2 sliding glass doors overlooking the ocean. You always hear the ocean waves.Resort Experience:The units are very homey and well decorated. Everything in our unit worked well. All of the rooms in the units are large and we liked the overall layout. There is even a small breakfast room with a TV so if people are sleeping in the living room, early risers can enjoy coffee and the paper or a little TV without distrubing anyone. Our unit had 3 TVs, one with a DVD player. Each unit also has a 1000 piece puzzle to do on rainy days. The only organized resort a...Read More

Bizzaro NY Pizza & Pasta

Restaurant | "Bizzaro NY Pizza & Pasta"

Quote:
Some of the best thin crust pizza we have ever had, and we are New Yorkers! The white pizza has a lot of garlic, which we loved. The crust is to die for. The resort raved about it and now we are singing Bizzaro's praises as well. There are a lot of tables and despite what some of the reviews we read said, the people who worked there were really nice. Bizzaro's also serves full meals, wine and beer. Go out of your way to eat here.

Bunkey's Seafood Grille & Raw Bar

Restaurant | "Bunkey's Seafood Grille & Raw Bar "

Quote:
A good local watering hole with very reasonably priced seafood and a great selection of beer. We enjoyed most things we had. They have a kids menu too. The place is very casual with a funky atmosphere, decorated with fish tanks and ocean paraphernalia. One tank has a huge grouper. There are large TVs for game watching, but it's not your average sports bar.

The Crab Trap

Restaurant

Quote:
The Crab Trap had great fresh seafood. The Blue Crab Special (6 large boiled crabs) was great (but messy). The calamari appetizer was outstanding – very fresh and cooked just right. The fresh fish and crab cakes were very good too. The crab cakes were much meatier and tastier than other local restaurants. This is a very casual place. Most menu items were seafood. They serve wine and beer. The owner came out and made sure everything was to our liking and offered to get something else if anybody didn’t like what they had. Nobody took her up on her offer.

Charlie & Jake's Brew Pub and Barbeque

Restaurant | "Charlie & Jake's Brew Pub and Barbeque"

Quote:
Charlie and Jake’s Brew Pub & BBQ had some decent brews and the pork barbecue was very good as were the ribs. The beer drinkers in our party like some of our hometown brews a little better but said the ones they tried were above average. Each table in the restaurant has 2 bottles of Charlie & Jake’s sauce, one mild, one hot (which we didn’t find all that hot). The chicken and brisket barbecue were ok but everyone loved the pork.

Chef Mickey Buffet at the Contemporary Hotel in Disneyworld had a pretty decent buffet, which made all of the adults pretty happy, but we mostly went so our little one could meet Minnie Mouse. There were lots of choices on the buffet and we didn’t have to wait long to be seated. You must have a reservation. When we arrived they gave us a beeper and sent us into a queue to get out picture taken. We looked at what they were doing with the photos and just got out of the line. There were no characters in the picture but while you ate, someone comes around and tries to sell you the picture. We did get plenty of opportunities for photo ops with Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Chip and Dale. It was fun and wo...Read More

Brevard Zoo

Attraction

Quote:
This is not a huge zoo but the thing that impressed us was that everything there was done really well. There are a series of wooden walkways that revolve around a central hub. Animal areas are located in trails that go out from the hub. The animals were also in natural settings with lots of room to roam. You can feed a lot of the animals with feed you get out of a “gum ball” machine. You can also get crackers to feed the giraffes and nectar to feed the lorikeets (very colorful and very friendly parrots - watch your ears!). The walkways are designed so the giraffes are standing straight up when you feed them. There are other unusual animals like capybara and anteaters. The spider monkeys were lots of f...Read More

This was a terrific trip. Kathleen knows all about the area and its wildlife and works very hard to educate people about the endangered wildlife in Florida including the Manatee. The 2-3 hour AM trip includes everything you need from the kayaks, towels, water, sunblock, polarized sunglasses and instruction. People go out in 2 person kayaks that are very easy to control. The water is very calm. One of the people paddles and the other gets to enjoy and take pictures. There are lots of things to see and enjoy. Kathleen points out all of the different birds and gives the background on all of them. We saw two dolphins on our trip and one manatee in addition to the many birds. There were people on our trip ...Read More

We spent half a day here and wished we had gone for the entire day. It was a 25-mile longer drive than we realized as you need to drive around the Kennedy Space Center to get there but were so glad we went. There is no cost. The people at the visitor center were very helpful and provided us with a great map of the area. There is a walking trail right outside the visitor center but most things are very spread out. There are some walking trails and others that can be done by car, bicycle or walk. One of the best trails was the Black Point Trail. It is quite long and most of it can be done by car. You go down a single lane road through the middle of salt flats and marshes. There was a greater variet...Read More

Great activity to do on a rainy day. The admission is a little steep ($31 adults and $21 for kids 3-11) but it includes the bus tour and all IMAX movies. For $7 you can add admission to the Astronaut Hall of Fame and flight simulators. We just did the standard admission. Parking is free. We spent over 5 hours there and could have easily spent another few hours. Because this is a government facility you need to go through a metal detector and someone searches all bags. Once you get into the visitor complex there are a few displays and when we arrived there was someone dressed up in an astronaut outfit. Many people posed for pictures with him. From the visitor complex you can take a tour of ...Read More

You can sample fresh squeezed juice and in-season oranges. The orange juice was expensive $7 a gallon but worth every penny. The honey tangerines were outstanding too. There is a location in Melbourne and in Cocoa.

Our 2-year-old granddaughter had never been to Disney World and her mom and dad felt she was a little young to enjoy the parks so we walked through Downtown Disney. She had a great time at the Lego Store and walking through the huge Disney Toy Store. She also enjoyed going into the gift shops at Rainforest Café and Cirque du Soleil. There were lots of fun things to see. Our granddaughter did not want to do it, but there is a carousel and a train for a small fee. She also loved the bus ride to the Contemporary and a spin on the Monorail before dinner - no cost to any of them (except the stuffed animal in the toy store)
