Romantic San Francisco Getaway

An August 2005 trip to San Francisco by retmspt

My husband and I went on a romantic getaway to San Francisco (we also honeymooned there). Our hotel had changed (and not for the better), but we did find some great small places to eat and enjoy the city.

I was so unhappy with the change in this hotel. We decided to pay the extra for the club floor, but there was no real advantage. Our room had a poor view. In addition, the club is now on the bottom floor with access to anyone, not just the club guests, as opposed to most club levels, where you can relax in a club room on your own floor. Also, we had to wait over 20 minutes to check out. In addition, I had called ahead to explain that I was allergic to feathers, but when we arrived, there were feathers everywhere, causing me to break out and be ill my entire first day--I didn't get better until we left.

This place is wonderful. It looks like a hole-in-the-wall, but the sushi is fresh and you get a great deal for your money. There is also other Japanese fare for those who don't care for sushi.

We had wonderful service and great seafood in this restaurant. We were also accommodated with a table with a great view where we could both see the bay.

This place in Chinatown is quaint and amazing. The service never failed, and it even made me glad to be adventurous. I would certainly recommend the scallop and hot pot dishes. Also, go a little earlier or a little later than the lunch or dinner crowd--you will be better off.
