Overview

Pelican in Flight
This year's trip to St. Thomas was just for a long weekend, but the trip is always worthwhile. We were able to visit several beaches during our short time, detailed in the included reviews. Dining reviews are also included for Shipwreck Tavern, Iggy's, Indigo, and Green House.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

As with almost any of the Virgin Islands, you'll need a vehicle to get the most out of your trip. Unless you plan on spending your entire vacation at an all-inclusive resort, you'll need something to get you around the island. There are plenty of taxis available, but taxis in St Thomas are more open-air shuttles, and you'll be sharing your ride with a number of other people. Traveling around the island by taxi will also get expensive quickly if you plan on moving about much at all. Save yourself some time and trouble and be sure you have a car at your disposal.

IndigoBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Indigo is a poolside restaurant at Magens Point Resort in St. Thomas. The menu consists of local specials and a mix of other cuisine. Menu options encompass everything, from several seafood plates to filet mignon, all at prices below $30. The dessert menu was even more impressive. Our choice, from several chocolate options, was an ice-cream sandwich creation consisting of German chocolate cake sandwiched around vanilla ice cream, coconut, and caramel. Our table can vouch that it was fantastic.

The atmosphere is laid-back and fairly casual. The patio area surrounds a pool and the lighting is by candlelight. The restaurant has several small stray cats that are fed at the resort's gift shop. They tend to wander around the patio and table area but weren't a bother during our meal.

Overall, for a relatively inexpensive price, Indigo offers some great meals and a great dessert selection in a great dining atmosphere.

Shipwreck TavernBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Shipwreck Tavern is known for some of the best burgers on St. Thomas. Directly across from Havensight Mall, where most of the large cruise ships visiting the island dock, Shipwreck is almost always busy.

The menu consists of typical American cuisine but focuses on several types of burgers. The burgers are all quite large to begin with and only get bigger with the available toppings.

Shipwreck has a typical bar atmosphere, with several new flat-panel televisions usually broadcasting sporting events. This is a great place to catch a game while you're in the islands. The service tends to be good, as does the food. Overall, if you're looking for a quick bite to eat, or somewhere to relax and watch a game, Shipwreck is a great choice.

Iggy's Beach BarBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Bolongo Bay from Above
Iggy's is a very casual beach bistro at Bolongo Bay. The menu is made up mostly of burgers, sandwiches, and typical café cuisine. Iggy's is reasonably priced and has very good food for the money. Drinks, like everywhere on the island, are fairly expensive. Though not advertised on the menu, iced tea is offered with free refills, but anything else will cost you. Iggy's is also a very lively night spot, with karaoke twice a week, along with live music and shows on Wednesdays. Iggy's menu can be found at http://www.bolongobay.com/html/Iggies-menu.html.

Green HouseBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Green House (The)"

Charlotte Amalie
The Green House is located along the waterfront of Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas. If you're spending a day or evening downtown, this is a great restaurant to stop in for a bite to eat. The open-air cafe-style seating provides great views of the harbor, and the service is some of the best in St Thomas. The Green House menu can be located here. The restaurant's, website with event details and specials, can be found via this link.
