Relaxing Red Sea

A January 2006 trip to Hurghada by joanmigwans

We spent a week relaxing in the warm January sunshine at a resort along the Red Sea. The restaurant food was great and beach service very good.

The coral reefs and aquatic life in the Red Sea are fantastic. Scuba diving and snorkelling are great. Lounging on the beach at the resort along the Red Sea was relaxing. We took a safari into the desert to visit a touristy Bedouin camp one day, which was interesting.

Quick Tips:

Smile and say "no thank you" as you quickly walk past the pushy sales men lining every street. If you find somebody who isn't pushy you may feel more comfortable pausing to look at what he sells. Don't show too much interest, but if you want something offer half what he is asking and go from there.

Best Things Nearby:
The Red Sea and the desert!

Best Things About the Resort:
The restaurant and the beach.

Resort Experience:
The kitchen is tiny and very difficult to use. The furnishings are old and everything is quite shabby. There is a new building that they say is for RCI, but it has not been finished and is not being worked on. Most of the other guests were on package trips from Russia, with a few other RCI folks from the U.K. Only men work at the resort. Most are polite, efficient and helpful.
