A September 2005 trip to Santa Fe by jgotoole
Quote: This is a funky place with okay food.
Restaurant
This restaurant is more bar/hangout than a good place to eat. The Cowgirls features BBQ with a Southwestern twist. Most nights there is live music of the alternative type. It seems most who eat here are granola-type locals, which provides a lot of flavor in addition to that in the food. The restaurant doesn't seem to cater well to families (we have kids, but they weren't with us at the time) but does seem to do well with groups. The decor of the restaurant/bar is Southwestern funk. The service was good to start but ground to a stop after the food was served, and it took a bit of trying to get the check. The prices at Cowgirl's is reasonable. I would go back to this establishment for a beer or two but probably wouldn't eat here again. There are too many other great restaurants in Santa Fe to eat here if you only have a few days.
