HoJo Portland, Maine

My family (of four) and I needed a break and decided on Portland—yes, even in winter! There was still enough to do—and not buck seasonal crowds—and costs are moderate--adventure was to be ours! We chose the Howard Johnson Portland in part because of the solid reviews. We came prepared to enjoy the coastline, but we always looked forward to returning to HoJo: our large room, the hot breakfasts we could serve ourselves, and the swimming pool. What a great choice—maybe we can come back when the rest of the world does! (Oh yes, be careful you don’t search Portland, OR, for HoJo—just NOT the same!)
