The second leg of our trip, after being released from the hospital in Maui, offered everything one needs to heal physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Waikiki Healing

Overview

The view from our Lanai
We attended a convention in Waikiki; in a nutshell, it's a big city. It bustles with tourists and beachgoers in the day and tourists and night life after dusk. Anything and everything one could need is within reach.

Quick Tips:

We had a room, top floor, beachfront, right across from Waikiki Beach. We could watch and hear the hula show below us at night. Having just been released from the hospital, I spent the first two days just sitting on the lania, popping painkillers and watching the surfers...what joy. It would not have been as enjoyable, I think, if our hotel room didn't have the view and proximity. If you're gonna go that far, splurge on a great view...it's worth every penny.

Best Way To Get Around:

Waikiki is a big city. There are a hundred places to eat, and an ABC (convenient store) on every corner. You could walk to everything you may need here...but if you want to cover more territory, there are city shuttles that are inexpensive. But, to see Hawaii, rent a car to get away from the city for a while...
To this day...the best Japanese dinner ever
From entering the door, you felt the Japanese ambience. We didn't have reservations (which are HIGHLY recommended) so we waited for a table with openings. The restaurant is hibachi style but also have sushi. We were seated with a Japanese family of four and another Japanese couple that didn't speak English. Our chef first offered us forks for dinner, which we declined.

We watched as the chef prepared the food with flair and a juggle of bowls. It was a fun experience, but the food was the greatest we've had, and this reigns as one of the best dinners we have ever had out.

A suggestion? Order the Diamyo combination. Steak, lobster and scallops--each will just melt in your mouth.

Not far down the road, we entered the King's Village and tried Odoriko for some sashimi.

The entrance is within the Village is below steps to Tanaka of Tokyo and made you feel like you were cutting through the back entrance. The restaurant was quiet when we were in there (it was early afternoon). The people were very friendly and the food was fantastic.

We ordered a sashimi assortment, which is pieces of raw fish (sushi without the rice). The assortment included tuna, yellow fin, salmon, snapper and more. We were really happy with the freshness and preparation.

Highly recommended.

Seafood Village

Restaurant

This restaurant got all kinds of awards, and they flaunt it. It doesn't take long to see why it was voted the best Chinese Restaurant in Waikiki. They have an extensive menu, making it hard to choose. But everything was wonderful and extremely tasteful.

I actually couldn't make up my mind. On the recommendation of the manager, I tried a walnut orange prawn. Incredible! I felt like telling the strangers at the table next door to try it.

Jimmy Buffett fans can't pass up visiting Cheeseburger in Paradise in Waikiki. Yep, they got cheeseburgers! Not just cheese on these giants! Anything and everything you could ever imagine put on a burger, you'll see it here. The restaurant is set up like a tiki bar/cafe. Vintage Hawaiian beach decor, and drinks to match!

The waiter either felt sorry for me (with this club of a cast on my hand from the accident) or had such fun watching me try to devour this huge burger with one hand, that he gave us a frozen fresh mango desert. Oh, Heaven!!!

Not to disappoint...www.cheeseburgerland.com/
