The trip down from Wichita, Kansas, took us straight down through the lower part of Kansas into Oklahoma, one state I have never been to. Route 35 brought us right into the heart of Oklahoma. Travel time was about 2.5 hours. The landscape changes from flat and prairie to slightly more hilly, with spots reminding the passersby of the extreme forest fire danger.
Upon arrival, the city is reminiscent of Old Town in Wichita. Modern buildings accompany areas such as Bricktown, where old mills have been renovated and turned into restaurants and bars. Finally, visiting the Oklahoma City bombing site is truly eye opening. For those of us like me, who were quite young at the time of the bombing, I was touched by the personal stories and intrigued by the story the memorial presented.

Be sure to set aside a good part of the day to fully take in the memorial and museum; it took us about 4 hours to tour the museum and the site of the memorial.
Best Way To Get Around:
The city seems easy enough to navigate by foot, although we drove everywhere. Parking spaces were plentiful, even for Saturday, and all-day parking was available in parking lots for .
