Resort Experience:
From the airport in, we were picked up by the resort shuttle. When we came out from the customs area, there were several people that rushed to the door yelling the names of different resorts. One yelled "Royal Solaris" and we thought that was our shuttle driver. However, this was a trick to get us to talk to a sales person, who proceeded to invite us to a tour of some other resort and promised free stuff for showing up. He also asked for a $20 deposit. Be careful and don't give anyone money. Go outside the airport—that's where a shuttle driver waits for you.
At the resort we were greeted and promptly checked-in. The resort is beautiful and well kept. We were impressed with how clean everything was, including our room. Our room had a view of the pool, and we could also see the ocean from the balcony. Most of morning and early afternoon entertainment took place by the pool. We were impressed with the entertainment events, and enjoyed both participating and watching others take part in different fun activities; including water aerobics, cooking lessons, bingo, ping-pong, and many fun games with prizes.
Every evening there was a different show/activity. There is a theater in the main building, and that's where the shows took place. There was a movie night, karaoke night, casino night, and Mexican fiesta. The Caribbean Night dinner show was the best. For food we had lobster and steak dinner, and the show were fabulous.
The resort has four restaurants. Two of them, Mexican and Italian, require reservations. The other ones offer buffet menus. We tried the Mexican restaurant once and it wasn't spectacular. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets were great with a wide variety of food. There was also a bar by the pool that served burgers, hot dogs, nachos, french fries, salad, and fruit throughout the day. You could also get drinks all day at the swim-up bar, at the beach bar, or at the lobby bar.
The beach was nice, but not swimmable because of strong currents at that part of the ocean. However, some people did go in the water. We played beach volleyball a couple of times. Also, for an extra charge you could rent a jet ski, or go on a horse back riding tour along the beach. There were vendors at the beach selling jewelry and t-shirts, but they didn't disturb vacationers.
The resort provided a short-lunch cruise for no extra charge. It sailed from the Marina at Cabo San Lucas and we got to see the Arch and the Lovers' Beach, and we stopped for snorkeling.
The travel agency at the resort offers tours around the area. We tried the beach-and-desert ATV tour. It was a lot of fun, I would highly recommend trying it out.
The resort offers a shuttle service to downtown Cabo San Lucas. It costs $10 per person, round-trip. The regular, one-way taxi ride is $35.
