Need a quick weekend getaway, a girl’s night out, or a day full of spa treatments? When one of my friends called me on Tuesday night and said, "Pack your bags. We're leaving for the Beau Rivage," it sounded like a winner to me. At exactly 4:28pm, we came to the valets, who were more than eager help to park our car, carry our luggage, and send us on our way. My 4:30pm spa appointment was only 2 minutes away. I arrived at the exquisite spa out of breath and eagerly anticipating a relaxing pedicure and manicure. As we are describing our drive through the rain at speeds reaching 90mph in order to make our scheduled appointments, the pedicurist calmly places my feet into a bubbling, lavender-scented, relaxing warm-water Jacuzzi. Having sensed our stressful day, she ordered each of us an afternoon cocktail. Wow, room service from within a spa! What more could a girl ask for? For the next couple of days the spa provided us with spa treatments fit for a queen. Checking in at the beautiful AAA four-diamond Beau Rivage Resort was quick, simple, and effortless in the breathtaking 60-foot atrium lobby. In just a matter of minutes, we were in our room overlooking the night skyline of Biloxi.
Just walking through the casino on our way to one of the 12 different restaurant choices, you can feel the excitement of the nonstop action in the spacious 24-hour casino. You just have that feeling that with the next spin, turn of the card, or throw of the dice, you’ll win that jackpot you so desire.
Dinner at the elegant Port House Restaurant, with its massive wall-to-wall saltwater aquariums, surrounds you with the feeling of snorkeling in the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean, except dressed in pearls and high heels (if you so choose). The extensive menu choices provided us with a medley of choices of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The lobster bisque and foie gras were exceptional to begin our dinner. For my entrée, with the fish being flown in fresh daily, I chose the Hawaiian swordfish. What wouldn’t be delicious covered in crabmeat and pecans? (After all, I am a Louisiana girl!)
Don’t leave the Beau Rivage without at least a sampling of its entertainment venues. We chose the quaint Coast Brewing Company, with a live band and free drinks for the ladies on Wednesday and Thursday nights. After forcing ourselves to get up the next morning after a room service breakfast complete with chocolate-covered strawberries, we couldn’t miss the exciting shopping within the hotel’s first-floor boutique shops. Designer-brand jewelry, shoes, and dresses were just steps away from the elevator door.
Shopping, fine dining, quaint cafes, gambling, partying, and those spa treatments are all under one roof. We never needed a taxi or our car to have total access to it all, until it was reluctantly time to return home to reality.
