I am a travel agent and recently visited Puerto Vallarta for the second time, the first being about 18 years ago. Loved it again!

Club Marival VallartaBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "Marival Grand & Club Suites"

Typical Puerto Vallarta sunset
This also known as Club Marival. This is a great value for what you get. I would recommend this property to everyone, especially families, because of their spacious one- to three-bedroom suites. It is rare to find that in a deluxe all-inclusive resort. The staff was great, from check-in to the pool service to the restaurants to housekeeping. They all treated you like you were at home and were genuinely interested in making your stay more comfortable. The food and restaurant variety was excellent (which Mexico is not necessarily known for). The rooms and suites are simply furnished but nice.

I met the owner and his wife, and they were not only concerned about the comfort of the guests at their resort, but also about the overall hospitality of Puerto Vallarta as a destination, especially the relatively new area of Vallarta Nayarit and Nuevo Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta has a lot to offer and has grown since I was last there but still has the Mexican village charm that has been lost in some Mexican beach destinations. I give not only the resort but also the destination four and a half stars!!

Cafe des ArtistesBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Café des Artistes"

The outdoor garden section, with its heavy foliage, creates the feel of an intimate, candlelit Garden of Eden. The chef/owner, Thierry Blouet, is from Puerto Vallarta but trained in the French culinary arts. You can see the pride in all his delicious dishes, from presentation to taste. We had a large group and not one person had anything negative to say. We were all delighted with the menu selections, wine menu, and wait staff. I would go back in a blink!

Nikki BeachBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

Nikki Beach is the new "hot hip spot" in Puerto Vallarta. What a great place to have a cocktail (lying down on a beach bed, if you prefer) while watching the awesome Puerto Vallarta sunsets. The ambience at night with the tiki torches and the waves crashing while relaxing on your beach bed is, well, a dream. Nikki Beach is also a restaurant, but I did not eat there, so I have no review on that. I can definitely recommend it for sunset cocktails though!
