If your looking for a nice room and strip location on a budget, this is the place. However, I found there to be many families with children at this hotel and found it distasteful to see children on the casino floor at 3am. The pool area is nice, and there is a separate 'cove' where adults only tend to congregate. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Male revue on-site is very fun for the ladies, but get there 1 hour ahead for the better seats.

Aladdin Hotel Casino

Attraction | "Aladdin Resort and Casino"

You can get a good price when booking early. This hotel is in the process of becoming the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino. Each room is being renovated and will become a "theme" room. Aladdin is very nice. The layout is nice because you don't have to walk through the casino to get to the pool. Drink prices poolside were pricey. It's better to get them inside at a bar and then bring them out. There is a beautiful waterfall in the pool and a great shopping mall inside. And there are high-end boutiques and well-known mall stores as well. It is located across from Bellagio and Caesars, toward the center of the Strip. It's in a great location.

If you want to stay in Vegas on a budget,  you should look downtown for your hotel. We stayed here at the Fitzgeralds, and it was cheap but well-maintained for its age. You can take bus, shuttles, trolley, and taxi to the Strip 24 hours a day. Fremont experience is literally a step away. Drinks and food are cheaper downtown. There is a movie theater and Gameworks across the street. A 24-hour Walgreens store is next door, which comes in handy for last-minute snacks, drinks, sundries, or, god forbid, a prescription refill if needed. Also take FREE shuttle (it's a nice tour bus) from downtown to Sam's town for a cheap but great buffet that the locals love.

LaSalsa Cantina - Take Two

This place has great food for a great price. Drinks are very good and not as pricey as the casino's "specialty" drinks. There are two locations, one is located on the street down from MGM Grand and the other is located inside the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood Dessert Passages Mall. Not only is it great for a evening casual dinner with cocktails, BUT it has the cheapest breakfast going. I went to the one in the Dessert Passage Mall since we were staying at the Aladdin, and I grabbed a $4 breakfast burrito, which was HUGE, while the others got a $4 coffee. They had great deals at breakfast and dinner.

Purple Reign

Attraction

Quote:
This show is great. I live in Minneapolis and have seen the REAL Prince several time. I was skeptical when going to this one-drink-minimum show at the Boardwalk hotel last year. I left a huge fan and have seen them EVERY time I go to Vegas. Man, this guy (group) is talented. They have a website, www.purplereign.net, for more info. The Boardwalk is now closed, but they are performing at various locations in Las Vegas, including the House of Blues. Check them out--it's a great show and you can't beat the price!

Gospel Brunch

Attraction

Quote:
If you will be in town through Sunday, I encourage you to go to the Gospel Brunch at Mandalay Bay's House of Blues. The food is hands down the BEST Southern grub you will lay your hands on, and there are many breakfast items, too. The singing is wonderful and the atmosphere creates a great way to start off your day. There is lots of fun and delicious food. The show was entertaining and uplifting. All types of people were there in all types of attire, from casual to dressy. There are two seating times every Sunday. Contact the website for more info at www.hob.com.
