Take Shepler's ferry to the island it is fast and a lot of fun for the kids.

The accommodations were wonderful, they have the most excellent view of the Mackinac Bridge from the front porch. Even if you do not want to stay in the hotel, you can pay a fee to see this most wonderful part of Michigan history.
