A December 2005 trip
to Carlsbad by RosalynA
Quote: It's a great resort but it does need some updates. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would return.
Best Things Nearby:Beach, San Diego, Themeparks, Carlsbad.Best Things About the Resort:Wonderful pools, fires at night, friendly staff, cleanliness. Wireless network. Resort Experience:Family of 7 (3 adults and 4 teenagers). Apartment size more than sufficient.
Pros: Super clean resort (always seems to be somebody tidying something - even on Christmas day) and very friendly staff. Delightful pool and good gym. Fires in evenings by pools very nice addition. Free wireless network (but see con below). Very convenient to all the main attractions (but you need car) including San Diego parks, Legoland, etc. Local spa (Michele's petite salon) one of the best we have ever been to - definitely worth one or more visits.
Cons: Wireless Internet but only in lobby - really needs to be extended to rooms even for a fee - vacations are times to spend with friends/family - not sitting in lobby if you need to do some work. Microwave and oven were ancient and almost non effective, desperately needs an upgrade (I haven't seen a Microwave without a turning table in about 10 years). We also objected to paying $1.25 for each load of laundry and another $1.25 for drying. Most resorts of this caliber has washer/dryer in apartment at no extra cost. At this resort they were in a separate laundry room which you then have to pay $2.50/load for.
