Charleston is sure to capture your inner old-fashioned sense! It is a city with lots of history with horse-drawn carriage rides and Southern hospitality!

I lived in Charleston for awhile, and it is such a LOVELY city! For around you can ride the horse-drawn carriage rides and tour the whole city! There are so many shops and restaurants around, it is very hard to get bored. Nightclubs are very popular, and there's usually something going on all the time! Halloween is a fun time because there are ghost tours and EVERYONE in the city gets dressed up in costumes and just walks around the charming downtown! There is the Battery Park, also dubbed Rainbow Row because the colors of the houses are like a rainbow, and BIG and beautifully set along the Bay of Charleston, where Sherman Tecumseh made his first move while almost setting the city completely on fire! There is a port now, so you can take off in a cruise anywhere! *VERY ROMANTIC* There are quaint plantations with tropical gardens and holiday surprises. The Market Place, which USED to sell real slaves, is now a bargain place for shopping--just look and you'll find GREAT deals!. Charleston is a city that should not be missed in anyone's travels! With its cobblestone streets, beautiful scenery, and fabulous food, it's a destination sure to charm you!

Quick Tips:

For a "fun" meal, I recommend Bubba Gumps. Decently priced and rightfully named after the Forest Gump movie, it's a restaurant you're sure to enjoy. Charleston is home to a few colleges and is a very young city, so you're definitely bound to find discount coupons by going to the tourist bureau in Charleston. Folly Beach, Mount Pleasant, and Hilton Head Island are must-see destinations, too!

Best Way To Get Around:

Public transportation is there if you need it, but if you have your own vehicle, just use your own, because once you park (after trying hard to find a spot), you'll be walking. Parking garages charge anywhere from to for parking, but it's SO worth it because wherever you go, you can walk around and enjoy the food, the romance, the quaint houses, and the walks along the beach. The inner charm of Charleston is something every city wishes it had!
You want to be directly "IN" the city of Charleston, looking off the bay? Well, here ya go! It is a BEAUTIFUL bed-and-breakfast that's decently priced, with a full breakfast and rocking chair porches where you can enjoy lemonade while watching the sunset in a low-key atmosphere where everything you do makes you feel special.

It was FUN! Many pictures were taken in this restaurant, with a low-key atmosphere and a neat way to get your host or hostess to come to your table is so cool! They even have a guy dressed up in a LARGE SHRIMP outfit--need I say more when I say "a FUN atmosphere"?

Hilton Head IslandBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

Enjoy the beach town and the splendor--kick off those flip-flops and start looking for sand dollars and sea shells! This is a place of Gullah Culture; many famous films were filmed here. Lighthouses and villa houses are so cool! And it's only 2 hours away from Charleston!

Mount PleasantBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

I loved Mount Pleasant! I highly recommend the Boulevard Diner! Its so delicious and you're eating with the locals. Once again, it's low-key and relaxing. I had a grilled chicken salad with french fries and fried mushrooms on top. Mmmmmmmmm!!!! DELICIOSO! Mount Pleasant is a neat place--explore it for yourself!

Folly BeachBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

This is the "college beach." All the young people come here to parasail or jet ski. It's full of wild and exciting entertainment! There is a boardwalk, but it's nothing like Ocean City or anything. It has nice restaurants and a gift shop, too!
