Every year, Easter Island has a Song/Dance festival. It is usually held in late January or early February, and lasts for 2 weeks. It is a Polynesian competition and neighbouring islands come here to compete. There is hula style dancing, men chanting and singing, and canoe races, as well as other unique art/cultural activities. The natives are strong believers in preservation of culture. They limit tourism just for this reason. This island is not over-priced or commercialized like Tahiti or other islands around it.
