Best Things Nearby:Walmart! Always need one of those.Best Things About the Resort:Skiing for beginners, variety of activities for non-skiers, new indoor waterpark rivals Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg.Resort Experience:After receiving your keys at check-in you are directed to another desk to get a parking pass. The person giving the parking pass offers you breakfast in exchange for completing a survey about the new waterpark. Sign up, find out that you have to bring your spouse and your 2-hr. breakfast/tour/survey is actually a FOUR HOUR timeshare sales pitch. Set a very angry tone for our vacation. We were all upset at half a ski day wasted and at being che...Read More

Skiing & Snowboarding

Most staff is unfriendly, unknowledgable and unhelpful. Very rude, in fact. However, we found instructors to be of a different caliber: very nice and helpful. Lodge and equipment are in pretty good shape. If you've never been skiing/snowboarding before, be sure to go with someone who can help you through the process because no one there will help you understand "where to go next". My husband is a great skier and says these are great family slopes but boring for a good skier, so not an avid skier destination. Large slow zone with its own lift so beginners can spend plenty of time in the slow zone. Although other slopes empty into slow zone so faster skiers abound.

Kids went in the evening. Waterpark is not complete so there is nothing else to do inside, where there will be a cafeteria, coffee shop, arcade, etc., later on. However, prices still reflect a complete park at the moment. Adults are required to supervise children and pay admission just to watch from the empty coffee shop, so it can be very pricey. Kids loved the waterpark and said they like it better than Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA., so it will probably be even better when it's complete.

Magic Show

Story/Tip

Quote:
Magic show was fantastic, best part of the vacation. Jason Bishop performed, absolutely perfect for all ages. We went with 5 girls, ages 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, and they all loved it. Downside was that they begin seating at 7pm but show doesn't start till 8pm. No reservations, first come first serve. Cash bar and drinks but free small buffet with ribs, raw veggies and a couple other things to pass time. $10 admission or free with activity card (kids' activity cards are $50 and definitely worth it for the week).

Tubing

Story/Tip

Quote:
Tubing park of about 9 lanes. Three short hills are great for all ages and fear levels. I don't do roller coasters or heights but found myself loving this. Two-hour sessions cost $18 (all ages) or $9 with activity card. Kids and adults with us LOVED tubing. Lift takes you back up to top of hill. Plenty of help getting off at bottom. Someone hit a wall when we were there and emergency crew was on site immediately. They gave us 15 extra minutes of tubing time to compensate for waiting on the emergency, which was very nice of them.

Great 2-hour activity for kids. They made a cute little basket with beads on it. Parents must stay to supervise, although they let us leave our 10, 11, 12 year old when we explained we had other reservations. Kids loved it. $5 or free with activity card.
