Romantic Mountain Getaway

A July 2001 trip to Gatlinburg by Denisemarie

I took a wonderful romantic vacation to the Smokey Mountains, to Townsend, TN. This city is just outside Cades Cove. The cabins and views here are the best I have ever seen. The is just miles form Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

The cabins were wonderful. They have one-, two-, three-, or four-bedroom cabins. They have pool tables and beautiful wrap-around porches with hot tubs. The views from these cabins are spectacular. If you are looking for a relaxing time in a cozy log cabin, this is the place to be.

The food at Lineberger's was wonderful. They have the best snow crab legs that I have ever had, and at a reasonable price. It was $25 for two pounds of crab legs. My husband's swordfish was the best he ever tasted. This is a wonderfully romantic restaurant with beautiful views of the smokies.

Attraction | "Ripley's Aquarium"

The Ripley's Aquarium is a wonderful place to see exotic fish. There are so many interesting things to see and do there. Touch a Ray bay, is a one of a kind experience. We had a great time touching the sting rays. The glass tunnel under the shark tank is a thing you will never forget. This is a great spot to visit, just as a couple or with the whole family.

The Smokey Mountain Winery offers free tours and tastings of their wines. They have wonderful dessert wines. Peach was the best one that I sampled. This is a real gem to fine in the Smokey's.
