I stayed in the Hilton Hotel at Charles De Gaulle Airport, as it was close to both the airport and the exhibition hall our company were exhibiting at.

The hotel is quite large, and I had an executive room on the seventh floor. There are glass elevators to take you up to your room, so you can peer into the large atrium as you rise.

My room was large, with twin beds with side tables, and a large desk with high-speed Internet access, phone, etc. The TV has movie channels and you can see your bill on screen. Unfortunately I did not have the luxury of having the time to view the films, so not sure how recent they are, etc.

I also had two full-length wardrobes, drawers, and a minibar. Each day a “gift” was left in the room. The first night it was chocolates - very welcome, then came fruit, then chocolate biscuits and so on, a nice touch. There was also chocolate, alcoholic and soft drinks in the minibar (charge applies).

The bathroom was also very large with separate shower cubicle, large bath and vanity area. If you forget your socket adaptors, they can provide them for you. You also get a lovely bathrobe to use during your stay.

So that's the good about the hotel, now the bad. I did not get a kettle in my room, although I did have tea and coffee making pack. I phoned down to ask for a kettle and was told one would be sent up. I had to go out in the evening so expected it to be there on my return, it wasn't. The following day, I again phoned to ask for a kettle, again I was told one would be sent up, it wasn't. On the third evening, I again phoned and this time one was delivered about an hour later.

Also, I did not have an iron or ironing board provided in my room, although all my colleagues did. I did not bother phoning down for this as I did not need to use it, but one should have been provided. I also found out on our last night that colleagues also had slippers provided, I did not. Had I have known I could have had these I would have requested them as the marble floor in the bathroom can be a little cool in the morning.

I had arranged a number of meetings in the hotel for our staff, and the first one included a buffet meal in the Aviators restaurant. There were 37 of us, and I can honestly say that not one of us was impressed with the food or service. The choices for the first course were ok if you like salad, but the options for the main course were very poor.
