A Week in Paradise

A December 2005 trip to Princeville by eagleagent

The week we spent in paradise (Princeville and Kauai)

We took a 5-hour whale-watching boat trip, 4-hour ATV adventure, 3-hour horseback-riding trip, went ziplining, scuba dived three times, and participated in a luau.

Quick Tips:

Do the timeshare presentation there--we saved on our activities AND ended up buying another timeshare on the beach in Kauai.

Best Way To Get Around:

We used a car. The resort was on the North Shore and most of the activities we did were on the South Shore. Depending on traffic, it took from 45 minutes to 90 minutes to get to our activities. Stay on the South Shore if you want to do any water activities.

Our condo was a two-bedroom/two-bath unit. It was huge, probably 1,500 square feet. It had a really nice deck off the living room, with a separate laundry room. The unit was VERY comfortable for two couples; it could have easily held six people with no problem. The unit had a full kitchen as well.

Resort Experience:
The unit was awesome. We had a two-bedroom, two-bath unit. My husband, my oldest daughter, her husband, and I went. It was beautiful. It seemed the only thing the locals could complain about regarding the weather was "it's too sunny in the summer." Must be tough--I live in Idaho and called my office one day. It was 2 degrees in Idaho and 75 in Hawaii. The directions that the locals give aren't real good--they know how to get somewhere but don't seem to be real good at telling someone else how to get there. We had an excellent time--in fact, we purchased a one-bedroom, two-bath timeshare unit on the south shore of the island. The trip was one of the best we've ever had. We really can't wait to go back.

We ziplined, rode horses and ATV's, whale watched, took a helicopter tour of the interior of the island, scuba dived, and participated in a luau. We had an EXCELLENT time. I would recommend that you ask the concierge to help you schedule your activities. They get paid to do that, and at the Makai Club they did their job VERY WELL. We told them what we wanted to do and what kind of time frame we had. Everything was scheduled for us in a couple hours. They even added last-minute adventures for us.
