Rome in December

A December 2004 trip to Rome by brianmo

Rome was everything that I thought it would: a modern feel with a sense of history that is overwhelming.

The rooms are kind of large by European standards. The staff there is quite friendly and helpful and the top reason to stay at the hotel. It is out of the way and not really close to anything, and it is about a 10 euro cab ride to the Spanish Steps or train station. They have a decent bar and a nice restaurant that is open for breakfast and dinner. The breakfast buffet is expensive. They do have a free shuttle to both the Vatican and Spanish Steps running all day long. Check with the front desk for times.

Restaurant | "The Hassler Roof Restaurant"

The restaurant is located on the top floor of the Hotel Hassler, which is located very close to the top of the Spanish steps. The views of the city are unparalleled--just stunning. Dress to impress; this place is very high-dollar. The food is amazing, but be prepared to pay highly for it. For more, try out www.hotelhasslerroma.com. Try it out, at least for the view.
