My boyfriend surprised me with a weekend trip to Chicago, and it was great. I had been before, but we stayed in a much better place and did a lot more this time.

Hyatt Regency Chicago

This Hyatt had nice clean rooms with great views. It had a huge bar where everyone went at night, but drinks where very pricey. The staff was nice, but the concierge didn't really know what she was talking about when I asked her about train stops. The rooms were quiet, but the giant lobby is VERY loud. I would recommend it, though, as the location is fantastic.

Melting Pot

Restaurant

The Melting Pot

The Melting Pot is my favorite restaurant for special occasions. You will not leave hungry, and the fondue makes it so fun. Where else do you get to cook your own food? This location seems to give smaller portions than other Melting Pots I have been to, but it still offers plenty.

Shedd Aquarium

I love aquariums, and this is by far the best one I have ever been too. Definitely set aside at least 3 or 4 hours to see everything. I am sure that Saturdays are very crowded, so it would be best to go during the week. They have every kind of sea creature imaginable, and the tanks are beautiful. The have a very nice food court to stop and take a break at, and it's not overly expensive.

Blue Man Group

Activity

Blue Man Group

I really didn't know what to expect when going to the Blue Man Group, but I am glad I went. It was very entertaining but possibly a little long-winded. Most of it was very funny, but a few of the "skits" were a little dumb. Definitely don't go with someone who is overly serious, because they might find the whole thing annoying!

IMAX Theater

I saw "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" at the IMAX theater. This was a really fun movie to see on the big IMAX screen. They did show it on the full screen, and some places have the big screens but only show it on half. The movie itself was pretty good, not as good as the original, though. The actually theater was nice, but the lobby though was pretty small and had nothing special about it at all.
