We decided to go to Waikiki Beach for our honeymoon. We had eight fun-filled days on Oahu Island, filled with multiple outings and exciting things.

Breathtaking!!!
One of our most memorable days was when we took the Jeep we rented and drove the island and looked for locals to direct us to some "hidden finds." We found some really awesome places the tour groups don't offer on their routes. Also, it is a must that you hike to the top of Diamond Head. The view from the top is absolutely unforgettable. Also, a luau is a MUST! We had a wonderful time, and the view from the luau is amazing. There was an actual lava rock beach with a lighthouse at sunset--PICTURE-PERFECT!!!

Quick Tips:

After you check in to the hotel, be sure to pick up one of every coupon book. There are some real savings in each book. If you think you might use the coupon, go ahead and tear it out. There are so many books, you don't want to spend your time going back to try and find a coupon you think you saw.

Best Way To Get Around:

We chose to rent a Jeep and tour the island ourselves. On a prior vacation we used public transportation and didn't feel the safest. We also did a lot of walking if our destination was close. The weather is great, not too hot or humid, and walking burns those calories!

The hotel was great. We had a room on the 12th floor. We requested a street-view room, but the way the hotel sits, you actually get a beach view AND street view.

For our honeymoon we were given a lovely gift basket and a bottle of wine, and they had our room prepared with little romantic touches.

The bathroom was gorgeous! We really loved the bathroom. It was completely up-to-date, with a huge glass shower.

Restaurant

They have the best breakfast buffet. They make omelets to order right in front of you in less than a minute. The staff is great and the food is amazing. The restaurant sits on the beach, so as you are eating you can listen and watch the waves come in.

When we first arrived in Hawaii, we thought that Diamond Head was a mountain. But, after arriving to hike we realized it was actually a crater. We began the hike and were just trekking along for the first half, and then our calves started burning!! (We are not normal hikers.) We slowed down our pace and started admiring the scenery on the way up the crater. The hike itself has wonderful views.

There was a lookout point pretty close to the top that was amazing. I could have stopped there and thought I saw a magnificent view, but we kept going. When we stepped out on the top, I was so amazed. Even though we saw the postcards of what it looked like from the top, I couldn't fathom the true beauty. We stood up there for nearly an hour, just admiring the wonderful view. A picture does not do the view justice, and you can not appreciate it without seeing it for yourself.
